Our Ambassadors

Upon  arrival at your Silver Star Vacation Home our Ambassadors will give you a welcoming call and help with any arrival questions you may have.  They will arrange a suitable time to meet you on your first morning to take you on a complimentary ski tour of Silver Star Mountain (this service is optional).

Ambassador
Service

The tour starts at the door of your chalet and finishes several hours later back at the door of your chalet.

The purpose of the tour is to acquaint you with the overall layout of Silver Star Mountain chairlifts and services , and to tickle your ski palate with a fair sampling of the snowy treats in store for you. Of course, pit stops such as hot drinks, snacks, photo opportunities, etc can also be enjoyed along the way.

The Ambassador Tour, as well as acquainting you with the mountain layout , is the perfect opportunity to check your equipment and clothing, and adjust to the snow and the new environment.  It is always good to allow your legs and lungs to adapt to the elevation on your first day, and generally soak up the welcoming, local mountain feel of this resort widely referred to as " A Canadian Classic " .

Look on this day with the Ambassadors, David and Mhairi Todd (veteran Silver Star mountain hosts), as the guided tour that makes your holiday at Silver Star so much better.

Two  important loves in my life (three if you count Mhairi), as an Ambassador for Silver Star Vacation Homes , are :

a] immersing myself , as an old mountaineer and still improving skier, in the wonderful winter that settles over our mountain from late November until April .

b] meeting like minded skiers and boarders from here, there and everywhere who are
experiencing our mountain for the first time through SSVH and our Ambassadors.

A guiding tenet for me in my role, as an Ambassador, is that everyone is interesting and has a story or three to tell if you give them time.  Participating in the winter environment, on skis or snowboard , whatever mode turns your crank , is a wonderful way to loosen people up and hear their stories.

Along the way I have made lots of new and interesting friends.

Outdoor recreation activities such as skiing, mountain climbing , backpacking , wilderness canoe trips , sea kayaking , biking and serious gardening help to fill the four equal and beautiful seasons that we experience from our home in Vernon , B.C. at the foot of Silver Star Mountain.

I am often asked by our SSVH visitors what my favourite season of the four is.  My stock reply is " the one that is about to start ."   Now as I write these lines for the SSVH website , it is with sweet sorrow that I put the garden and our warm weather toys to bed, but with pleasure that I dig out my skis and get prepped for " my favourite season " .

To me winter is about skiing and people. Being privileged as a snow Ambassador with SSVH, I get to share my passion for skiing with kindred spirits from all over the map.

If I may be permitted an oxymoron: I see skiing, from on mountain accommodation, as a healthy infectious activity .
Come Stay With Us and share my
" favourite season " .
